Land Rover Dash Warning Lights

Exhaust DEF – Red Symbol
If this symbol is illuminated in red, it means that your Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) level is too low. Land Rover models will not run if the DEF reservoir is empty. Please note that this light may also illuminate if the incorrect DEF has been used.
Exhaust DEF – Amber Symbol
When this symbol is illuminated in amber, it means that the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) level is low or that incorrect fluid has been used. The instrument panel will also display a warning message. Follow the on-screen messages, if it is safe to do so.
Exhaust Filter
This warning light will illuminate when the exhaust filter is full or there is a fault with the filter system. An accompanying message may also appear on the display. If this light does come on, stop as soon as you can and contact your breakdown recovery provider.
Hill Descent Control (HDC)
Land Rovers are renowned for their off-roading capabilities, and the Hill Descent functionality contributes to their exceptional abilities. The HDC lamp illuminates when the system is selected and is controlling a steep descent. If the lamp is flashing, HDC has been selected, but the operating conditions are not being met, or HDC fade-out is occurring.
Follow Mode
This symbol will illuminate when the adaptive cruise control system is in follow mode, indicating that the vehicle is automatically maintaining a safe distance from the car ahead. In this mode, the system adjusts your speed to match the traffic flow, providing a more comfortable and hands-free driving experience, particularly in heavy or stop-and-go traffic.
Lane Departure Warning
The green lane departure warning lamp will illuminate when the feature is enabled and the system is tracking the lanes. If you change lanes without indicating, or stray from your lane inadvertently, the symbol will flash red, and the steering wheel will vibrate.
Auto High Beam Assist (AHBA)
This symbol lights up when the Automatic High Beam Assist (AHBA) feature is active. When engaged, this system automatically adjusts the vehicle’s headlights, dipping them to a lower setting when it detects oncoming traffic or when you are driving behind another vehicle. This helps to prevent dazzling other drivers, enhancing safety and providing a more comfortable driving experience, especially during night-time driving or in low-visibility conditions.
Auto Start/Stop
This symbol indicates that the Start/Stop feature of your car is active and that your Land Rover has automatically switched off to conserve fuel and reduce emissions. Once you press the accelerator or release the brake pedal, the engine will automatically restart, allowing you to continue driving as normal. Forward Alert
The forward symbol will illuminate when the system is active, indicating that it is actively monitoring the area in front of your vehicle. This feature is designed to enhance your awareness and help prevent collisions, providing an extra layer of safety while driving, especially in situations where visibility may be limited or when parking in tight spaces.
