The turbo actuator is designed for the Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT Turbo system), it is fitted to Land Rover models including the Freelander 2 and Range Rover Evoque.
Land Rover Freelander Problems
Restricted performance, along with associated limp home mode, poor turbo boost and the constant illumination of the engine management light (EML) are the common malfunctions associated with manufacturing defects internal to the turbo actuator.
Land Rover Turbo Problems
Due to failure of the boost control solenoid/turbo actuator, the Freelander 2 and Range Rover Evoque will often be forced into a limp home mode state. Running symptoms begin as intermittent but if left it will become permanent in nature. This will lead to the engine management light to be lit continuously on ignition cycle.
Range Rover Evoque Turbo Fault
Turbo actuators For the Freelander 2 and Range Rover Evoque are not available separately and are usually bought from Lands Rover main dealership as part of a full turbo replacement. Due to the turbo actuators being factory mapped/programmed to the specific parameters of the turbo it came from, a used actuator replacement would not work. If a used turbo actuator is fitted it will cause issues with the turbo and engine management system.
Evoque and Freelander Turbo Failure symptoms:
- Restricted performance
- Loss of power
- Limp home mode
- Poor boost performance
